New Eve Energy Smart Plug Available for Preorder on Amazon
After unveiling a brand new HomeKit-only Eve Cam at CES, alongside the previously announced Eve Water Guard, German company Eve have officially added their updated North American type Smart Plug Amazon.com.
The overall size of the updated smart plug has been reduced extensively, to such an extent, that it can now be plugged into a dual-wall outlet without blocking the second socket. Whilst this is becoming more common with smart plugs, starting with the iHome iSP5 and iSP6, it’s a welcome change from the original model. The plug itself is very similar looking to the Vocolinc SmartBar, although the Eve version follows the design language of many of it’s other current and previous products, with a cutout line encircling the device.
As with the original version of the Eve Energy, the new model uses Bluetooth as its method of connection and also has energy monitoring functionality. If Bluetooth connectivity is an issue, this can also be connected to the companies Eve Extend, that allows wifi connectivity for greater and faster reach and response.
The new version is available on amazon.com to preorder, with shipping commencing February 4th and is priced at US$39.95, which is, unfortunately, more than double the price of the aforementioned Vocolinc option, which offers Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility in addition to HomeKit.
